Excellent Overview of Sociology of Education

I am a graduate student studying Sociology of Education and this book was required in one of my courses. I found it extremely helpful in acquiring a quick yet fairly comprehensive overview of the different issues and approaches that one can observe in the discipline. It's divided in six easily referenced parts:
Part 1: Theory and Method in the Sociology of Education
Part 2: School Organization and Processes: Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum
Part 3: International Education
Part 4: Higher Education
Part 5: Education and Inequality
Part 6: Educational Reform & Policy
Within each section you can expect full length (~15 to 25pgs each) writings from 3-9 authors (all have 3 except Part 1 and Part 5 which have 9 and 6, respectively).
He also provides an introduction to each Part, setting the context and supplying readers with helpful information.
Having since been more immersed in the field, I can say that Sadovnik was justified in his selection of readings. It has served very useful in writing papers on education as it has a bunch of influential writings all in one place!
This is interesting and appropriate for the scholar on the subject, educator, and curious soul.
